Teodoreanu laughs at the deceived husbands of novels and bets his wife she cannot fool him within twenty-four hours. That evening Smărăndița goes masked to the ball, charms him without being recognised and leads him, blindfolded, back into their own house. Meanwhile her cousin Tinca secretly receives her suitor, and in the dark the two men end up wrestling each other.
